F.I.G.H.T. your body burdens

By Garry F. Gordon, MD, DO, MD (H)

FIGHT is my acronym that stands for Food, Infections, Genetics, Heavy Metals (plus hormones) and Toxins. My F.I.G.H.T program is something that I’ve developed over many years that shows how each part of our wellbeing regime is vitally connected.

Only when we address these areas as a unified whole, can we have a chance of reaching optimum long-term health. That’s why the F.I.G.H.T program is a complete, 360 degree way of caring about all aspects of our body.

In this article, we look at the ‘H for heavy metals’ part of the complete FIGHT program.

Pollution

Pollution is a big factor when it comes to adding to our body’s load of heavy metals and toxins. It is known as one of the biggest causes of heavy metal saturation, and a lot of these are hard to get rid of. It’s been estimated by scientists that modern individuals are carrying 1000x more lead in their bodies than our pre-industrialized ancestors!

This is a problem in many ways – exposure to damaging heavy metals leads to health problems such as organ dysfunction, vascular damage, skin damage, problems with the nervous system and many more.

This is why my health plan – the F.I.G.H.T program – is so important. Purging these heavy m

Lead and other heavy metals have harmful effects

There are two heavy metals that are the most common culprits for invading the body; lead and mercury. They are readily present in the environment and easy for us to inhale and absorb.

Mercury

Mercury has been long used in many products such as medicines, cosmetics and electricals; steps are being taken now to reduce this but there’s a long way to go. It is also widespread in the dental community, used in dental amalgams which can be up to 50% made of mercury.

Lead

Lead is also found in many products and also in buildings and water supplies. It is found in children’s toys, as dust and in cosmetics.

Both lead and mercury have detrimental effects on health; many links have been found between mercury and how it impacts on the neurological system. It has also linked with physiological conditions, kidney damage, balance issues and more. Lead is no less toxic; it has detrimental effects on the nervous system and body organs. Studies have shown that men who have higher levels of lead in their bones are up to 6x more likely to suffer from cardiovascular problems and even die from heart disease. Lead levels have also been linked with cataracts and low growth hormone levels, congenital problems and delayed puberty. It affects everyone from old to young.

Of course, these aren’t the only harmful metals we’re exposed to on a regular basis. Aluminium (often used in cosmetics and anti-perspirants) and arsenic (found in meats through animal exposure to arsenic used in feed) are both also harmful to health. Arsenic, for example, has been linked with Type-II Diabetes and Aluminium has been linked with onset of Alzheimer’s Disease and ALS (aka Motor Neurone Disease)

Other harmful metals that we’re routinely exposed to include arsenic and aluminum, these are found in meats like chicken, (through chicken feed) and cosmetic products like antiperspirants etc. Arsenic is known to be associated with type-II diabetes, and aluminum has been associated with Alzheimer’s disease and ALS, (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, commonly referred to as motor neurone disease).

Overall, when all heavy metals are combined in the body or even when combinations of just some are present, there can be a negative-synergistic effect on the body – this means, when more than one heavy metal is present, their toxicity is multiplied. As such, removing heavy metals from the body is absolutely crucial to lower the risk of developing serious health conditions.

F.I.G.H.T with supplementation for a long term future

The F.I.G.H.T program is a long-term solution to detoxifying heavy metals from your system, and to accompany this, there are some simple steps and supplements we can all do to aid this process. This is to help avoid intensive procedures such as IV Chelation therapy (which does aid heavy metal levels immediately, but can be arduous on the body).

Beyond Chelation Improved® (BCI)

Beyond Chelation Improved® (BCI) is a unique combination of the following nutrients (and more) that help to detox the body. It consists of 9 tablets which help heavy metal detoxification through the body

  • Calcium EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid)
  • Garlic
  • Malic acid
  • Primrose oil

At the same time BCI also supports healthy vitamin, mineral and omega levels and there’s a lot more beside. I would recommend anyone interested in BCI to look at the comprehensive supplement fact panel to see exactly what is packed into this all-round daily health technology.

Beyond Clean®

These gentle bath-salts are a powder that goes to work as you climb into your bath tub.

Beyond Clean® contains the metal removing agent EDTA which works to help the body remove heavy metals through the skin

Removal of iron from the skin for example can reduce free radical activity when exposed to the sun’s UV rays. This is turn can reduce skin burn leading to less lines in the skin and could also reduce by consequence the appearance of sun spots that can become BCC or SCC issues.

Note that our latest version 2 of Beyond Clean now also contains a high quality zeolite in addition to the EDTA (see below for further details). It couldn’t be simpler to use, just add Beyond Clean® to your bath water and take a soak just like normal.

Beyond Fiber®

Beyond Fiber® works to help the body detox using a mixture of EDTA and prebiotic insulin. Prebiotic insulin helps the detoxification process in the body by balancing gut flora and supporting the gastrointestinal tract – sometimes, detoxing can result in “good” intestinal bacteria being removed, so it is important to balance this out.

In addition, the gut is the principal route of detoxification, heavy metals transported to the gut can often remain if there is not enough fiber present to have them passed through and defecated out of the body.

Bio En’R-Gy C®

My unique vitamin C drink performs many beneficial functions. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is an important carrier to get various toxins into the bloodstream, to pass them onto various detoxification channels; vitamin C for example can also help excrete fluoride. But my specially designed Bio En’R-Gy C® drink not only contains a high-strength stabilized vitamin C, (to prevent side effects such as diarrhea and stomach cramps), but also contains ribose for heart health, MSM to reduce inflammation, betaine to reduce homocysteine plus even bioperine to improve all nutrient uptake. Simply stir a teaspoon into water or juice and drink.

ZeoGold®

ZeoGold® contains the highest quality zeolite, a powerful cleanser and purifier of volcanic origin. ZeoGold® also helps to increase the body’s level of glutathione – known as the master antioxidant – critical for detoxification within the cell.

Note: A ZeoGold capsule should be broken and allowed to dissolve in a glass of water before drinking.

And don’t forget

Regular exercise also helps the body to remove a build-up of heavy metals and chemicals – as long as it makes you sweat! In fact, anything that encourages the body to sweat is good in this regard, so  hot-tubs and particularly saunas also play an important role.

Conclusion

There are many ways to help rid the body of harmful toxins and metals including taking oral supplements, exercising and eating healthily with organic produce. It can take time to detox yourself in this way, but keeping up good practices regularly will have long-term benefits and help put your body and mind out of risk of conditions related to metal toxicity.
